Please leave donations here for St Luke's Hospice and GUTS UK in memory of Susan.

Reading through the many tributes the family have received, we're left with a clear picture of how you saw Sue...Positive. Cheerful. Caring. Strong. Independent. A loyal friend. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Someone who embraced life fully and encouraged others to do the same. Someone whose warmth made people feel welcome. Someone whose friendship endured. And someone who will be greatly missed but remembered with enormous affection by all who knew her.

Mum was diagnosed with stomach cancer just 4 and a half weeks before she passed away...giving her and us no time at all to process the diagnosis, never mind consider treatment.

The NHS-funded Palliative Community Nursing team were amazing and they work hand in hand with St Luke's Hospice, a charity who provide end-of-life care and support for the families of patients.

Every year about 6,700 people in the UK are diagnosed with stomach cancer. It is one of the deadliest cancers because people are too often diagnosed when the cancer is advanced and barely treatable. Very little cancer research spending has been dedicated to stomach cancer, like all cancers of the digestive system. They have been underfunded for decades. This is why four of the six less survivable cancers are digestive (pancreatic, oesophageal, stomach and liver). Guts UK is funding specific research into the early diagnosis of stomach cancer.

Thank you.

St Luke's Hospice, Sheffield
St Luke's Hospice, Sheffield

St Luke’s is an independent charity caring for terminally ill adults and their loved ones across Sheffield. Each year, we care for around 1,900 patients most of whom are cared for in their own home by our Specialist Palliative Care Community team. St Luke’s is dedicated to the wellbeing of the terminally ill in Sheffield and their loved ones. No patient or family is ever the same, and our journey with each individual is unique. Above all, we are about life, and enabling our patients and their loved ones to live theirs and die with dignity and respect. Of the £10 million it takes to deliver our services this year, we need to raise £7 million of that from donations.
